energy in, energy out

Energy shapes how life feels and functions. Every activity, environment, and interaction either supports the system or quietly taxes it. Over time, those signals add up.
What Gives Energy
Energy increases when life supports recovery and reduces friction.
Common sources include:
Rest and sleep
Movement and physical activity
Clear, calm environments
Meaningful or engaging work
Supportive relationships
Time in nature or quiet spaces
Periods of uninterrupted focus
These experiences tend to create clarity, steadiness, and momentum.
What Drains Energy
Energy drains when the system is constantly compensating.
Common drains include:
Chronic busyness with little recovery
Cluttered or chaotic environments
Too many decisions or unclear priorities
Constant interruptions and digital noise
Work that requires continual pushing
Poor sleep or irregular rhythms
Tense or demanding relationships
These conditions increase mental load and nervous system strain.
The Life Design Perspective
Life design does not try to remove every drain. That is unrealistic.
Instead, it asks a simpler question:
Does the system generate more energy than it consumes?
Small shifts like protecting recovery, simplifying environments, reducing friction can gradually change that balance.
A good life is not built only by doing more.
It is built by protecting what gives energy and reducing what drains it.
